Lyrics

This scattered crowd, though it holds no tribe / Clings to a name, for it has no family
Too late—brothers show no mercy to brothers / No clan has ever held so many Cains
The world is but pregnant with cruelty and death / As though the heavens bore no seed of Abel
Each killing, an assault on the myth of Eve / Her endurance shatters beneath imposed burdens
If history is but the tale of seasons repeating / My calendar and its calamities know no recess
For the end of love is neither blasphemy nor faith / Even Satan feels no haste in deceiving you
The confusion is ours—yet the story of Adam / Knows neither Qur’anic, nor Toraic, nor Gospel bounds

Description

“The Myth of Eve” reflects the silent suffering that war has imposed on mothers and pregnant women throughout history—the first unseen victims of every conflict, beyond religion or borders, yet ever present in the heart of human history.

Rojan was born in Sanandaj, Kurdestan, into a cultured and music-loving family. After high school, she moved to Rome, Italy, where she studied Fashion Design.

Returning home after her studies coincided with revolutionary changes in the country. Women, especially artists, realized that their social and professional lives had to change rapidly. Many were forced to end their public and artistic activities altogether, under intimidation by government agents. Soon, new Islamic laws banned the art of singing by female voices.

Rojan began designing colorful pieces against a dark backdrop and continued to practice music privately under the guidance of Hengameh Akhavan.

In 1999, Rojan and her family immigrated to the United States. Settling in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two children, she began her new professional career as a vocalist, supported by her family. After many years of waiting, her musical activities resumed—new albums, numerous concerts, and international tours followed.

Rojan performs in both Kurdish and Persian, actively introducing Kurdish music and traditional attire, particularly in academic centers.

In 2004, she toured with Shams Orchestra to Kurdistan (Iraq) and subsequently around the world.
In 2009, in support of the Iranian people’s democratic movement (“The Green Movement”), she organized several events and recorded traditional resistance folk songs.

Over the years, Rojan’s active participation in international festivals and concerts has helped introduce Kurdish music and culture to global audiences. In the past two decades, she has produced more than 20 songs and remains an artist deeply committed to the interests of people and society.
